Try It Tuesday!

What makes you happy? Really happy. No...GLEEful?

Oh, tonight begins the new season of Glee. If you have not watched it, you should TRY it!
Watch it for the music. It's so good. If you were ever in a choir or musical or wished you could be, you'll love it. Or...watch it for the cute clothes. Watch it tonight! Yes, I'm serious.

Happy Birthday to You!

Today was Jose's 36th birthday. Happy birthday, Husband! I am so blessed to have such a kind, generous, funny, and handsome :) man in my life. Thanks for being a caring husband and truly awesome dad. I love you, Jose. We celebrate you today!

We had a great family cookout today. The weather was perfect. The company was great. Here are a few highlights.

Try It Tuesday!

Fennel...

I don't like fennel. I didn't think that I liked fennel. Then, I roasted it. Mmm.

Ingredients
Fennel (slice the bulb into 1/2 inch pieces)
Olive oil
Salt
Pepper

Preheat your oven to 400.
Toss the fennel with the other ingredients.
Spread onto a baking sheet.
Roast for about 45 minutes.
It should be browning on the edges.
Eat it!

I've also discovered a renewed passion for broccoli. It's great the same way!

DUKE!

No, not that Duke...I'm rooting for Butler.

Happy Birthday, Duke! Today is Duke's birthday...hooray!

It was a dark and stormy night. Seriously, that is how Duke's story begins. One of the scariest nights of my childhood was the night that Duke was born. It was a power out, hide in the basement sort of Indiana storm and my parents were at the hospital. While I didn't totally understand what was going on, I knew that it was bad. In the weeks and months to follow, as Duke fought for his life and survived, I understood enough to know that he was a miracle.

I was so excited when my mom told us that she was going to have another baby. I was especially excited because this new baby was supposed to be born during my birthday month. In my six year-old mind, this meant that baby number four and I would have an extra special bond. You see, I was a little jealous of Court and Whit sharing September. Don't worry, I'm pretty much over it.

Duke is humble, generous, and loving. He brings joy to our family (often by singing at the top of his lungs). He is an excellent uncle. And, today is his day.

Although, you can probably have one in July, as well...if you want to share. Love you, Dukie!!

Playing Around

I've been trying to shoot only on manual for a while. Now that I got my new MacBook, I've been playing around with the editing tools on Aperture 3. What do you think?

Heavy Trash Pick Up

Isn't it an exhilarating feeling to do a little spring cleaning? At the point of this photo, carpet and a stereo had already been removed by the roving trucks. Yes, this whole pile of stuff came from our house...specifically our basement and yard. My goal of getting a clean, organized basement may just come true!

A Day Out

We had a lovely lunch date at Hutch and Spoon on Saturday. Mmm...the chicken pesto sandwich is so delicious. Jose has been on a ham and cheese kick. His sandwich was yummy, as well.
