Three.

My sweet, rambunctious explorer turned three yesterday. We had a day full of his favorite places and things. Dinosaurs, rockets, and playgrounds! He may have opened a few presents and eaten some cake, as well. I am so looking forward to this new year in Griffin's life...the conversations, the discoveries, the friends, and the learning. He has grown in leaps and bounds in the last year--from toddler to little boy. I know that three will be just as magical and exciting. I hope this birthday was a glimpse of the wonderful year to come.

There's nothing like a Saturday outside. It's been beautiful here and we're enjoying every minute of it. I've been feeling that hope and freedom that accompanies spring. My renewed energy and excitement has made me want to spruce up the yard, the house, get projects done and just be outside with my boys.

There are some mornings when they wake up and it's as if they've grown over night. Changed. There's something in the way they make noise or move or the expressions they make that is just different. Last week, Griff said his name for the first time--Diff. (He has been calling himself YOU! for quite a while) Diego seems suddenly so aware of his big brother and thinks he's hilarious. Seeing the two of them together, happy fills me up. While I know there will be times when I will long for some moment or memory from the past, days like these make me excited for all of the things to come. Love these boys...

 He's sure Diego will too.

 But, if a book doesn't make him happy, Griff will try to cheer him up with a gentle face stroke.

 And...a nose cleaning.

 And...a snuggle.

And now...he's two!

Griff had an amazing birthday. Thanks to all the family and friends who made his special day extra-special. We had a day full of dinos, treats, and thoughtful gifts. While the weather wasn't exactly what we had in mind, Griffin certainly wasn't fazed by it. He was thrilled with each person who walked through the door and so happy to show everyone his books and toys. It is so fun to have a two year-old and we're so thankful for everyone who was a part of the celebration.

Happy second birthday, my sweet boy! You've grown and changed so much over the last year. We are so proud of the little boy you're becoming. You are adventurous and outgoing. You love to climb and run and jump. You give us the best hugs. Your smiles are filled with joy. And, you fill us with joy. Whether you're talking about going to the beach, singing and banging on the piano, or pointing out dinosaurs everywhere we go, you are happiness in motion. I hope your new year is fun. I hope you become great buddies with Deo. I can't wait to hear all the words you'll say and ideas you'll have. I can't wait to see your imagination unfold in front of you...filling each day with excitement and wonder. Above all, I want you to know how much we love you. Each and every day, we love you.
